Jeffrey Kastner

Jeffrey Kastner is the senior editor of Cabinet and was formerly senior editor of ARTnews and contributing editor of Art Monthly and Art/Text. A frequent contributor to Artforum, his writing has appeared in a wide variety of news and cultural publications, including Afterall, Bookforum, The Economist, frieze, and The New York Times. His work has been included in numerous books, including, most recently, Land, Art: A Cultural Ecology Handbook (Royal Society, 2006), Fusion/Confusion (Museum Folkwang, 2008), PhotoEspana (PhotoEspana, 2008), and Experimental Geography (Melville House, 2008). Kastner was the editor of Land and Environmental Art (Phaidon, 1998), and co-editor of Plop: Recent Projects of the Public Art Fund (Merrell, 2004), and Odd Lots: Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark’s Fake Estates (Cabinet Books, 2005). Kastner has also published catalogue essays on such artists as Doug Aitken, Jeremy Blake, Willie Doherty, and Sarah Sze.
