Art Criticism for the Post-Material World
will map the foundational components of object-oriented programming (which represents concepts as objects) onto the construction and interpretation of non-material art objects, such as performance and social practice. Through a year-long series of articles, the blog will develop a framework for critical and aesthetic appreciation of ephemeral art in the post-material world.
Andrew Horwitz is a critic and curator in NYC. Since December 2003 he has published Culturebot.org, a blog about performance. From 2011 – 2011 he curated and produced The River To River Festival for The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Other curatorial projects include "The Future At The End Of The World" at the Farley Post Office (December 2012), "Ephemeral Evidence" at Exit Art Gallery (May 2012) and The PRELUDE Festival at the Graduate Center at CUNY (2007 – 2009). From 2002 – 2007 he worked as producer at Performance Space 122, presenting the work of hundreds of artists across all disciplines.
