Annette An-Jen Liu will write a series of articles about image-based collaborative art practices to explore how artists are engaging with Taiwan’s cultural landscape and colonial history. The articles will explore the expansiveness of the photographic medium and interdisciplinary approaches through a transnational perspective.
Annette An-Jen Liu is a writer and curator. Her criticism, interviews, and profiles of artists have appeared in ArtAsiaPacific, Art Monthly Australasia, 4A Papers, Magnum Photos, MOLD Magazine, Musée Magazine, Ocula Magazine, Testudo Editorial, and Voices of Photography. She contributed research to the exhibition catalog and reader Wolfgang Tillmans: To look without fear (Museum of Modern Art, New York, 2022). She has also translated catalog essays for the artist Cai Guo-Qiang. In 2020 she was a critic-in-residence for a project partnership with Art Monthly Australasia and Australia National Capital Artists (ANCA).
