Carina del Valle Schorske’s “Monte Adentro” will investigate the contemporary significance of Puerto Rico’s precolonial material culture—in particular, rock art and ceramics—for contemporary artists and amateur enthusiasts living in the archipelago.

Carina del Valle Schorske is a writer and translator whose work explores intimate histories of empire, migration, and creative survival in the Caribbean and beyond. Her writing has appeared in publications including The Believer, Bookforum, Broadcast, frieze, The New Yorker, and the New York Times Magazine, where she is a contributing writer. Her book The Other Island is forthcoming from Riverhead.
