Emily Christensen will continue to write about contemporary artists living and working in the Great Plains region—loosely defined as Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas—and how they are responding to their immediate landscape and the communities that exist in its environs.
Emily Christensen is a freelance writer based in Wichita. Trained as a journalist, Christensen has written about visual art, food, and culture for publications including the Wichita Eagle, Kansas Reflector, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Art Focus. She is the co-creator, writer, and host of the award-winning podcast Feminist Foremothers, produced in collaboration with mama.film for the Sundance Film Festival. Christensen has interned for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and KMUW, Wichita’s public radio station. In 2020 she was selected as a fellow of the National Critics Institute.
